In an age of disposable messages, Carla Hansen’s are deliberate and take many hours to create. This purposeful ‘writing in thread’ is a result of her lifelong love of words and pictures. Now she draws on everyday conversation, buzzwords and thoughts to make her viewer stop, think or laugh. Carla never studied embroidery at New York’s School of Visual Arts where she earned her degree, but believes all of her creative experiences have lead her to this place. Carla’s My Needle Habit has been exhibited at the Katonah Museum, Gallery Aferro, Lovebird Studio as well as several online exhibitions. My Needle Habit will be included in a book of new embroidery artists being published later this year.
Brian is one of the Brooklyn Winery's founding fathers. In that capacity, he’s done everything from raising capital to managing the event and customer winemaking businesses. Brian’s even installed a sheet rock ceiling (2 layers thick he’s happy to note) — in the Parlor room, in case you’d like to check out his handiwork! Prior to jumping into the winery world, Brian spent countless hours making Excel models and PowerPoint presentations at McKinsey and Co. before joining ExpoTV.com, helping a cool tech startup. He also started an amazing water business (which is still operating) at his alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis.
